Employers
There are no shortcuts to workplace safety. Cutting corners not only increases the risk of serious injury, but significantly impacts a company's bottom line as a result of days lost, decreased productivity and poor workplace morale. According to WorkSafeBC, in the past few years there have been more than 10,000 eye injury claims to workers in B.C., causing disability, loss of income and hardship on families.
The Occupational Vision Plan (OVP) is a BCAO program dedicated to helping you improve the eye health and safety of your employees. It’s a province-wide network that provides expert eye care and leading prescription safety eyewear to industries as diverse as forestry and high tech, offering comprehensive eye examinations, professional consultation and individually tailored programs to help your employees work safely and effectively.
Program benefits
An OVP Doctor of Optometry is your single point-of-contact for all your workplace eye-care needs – from providing comprehensive eye exams and eye-safety information, through to prescription safety eyewear purchasing and fitting. Your OVP Doctor of Optometry can also assist with your dress eyewear or contact lenses needs.
Whether you live in Vancouver or Fort St. John, our extensive network of eye doctors provides consistent, high-quality care. And in communities served by several member Doctors of Optometry, the OVP program allows your workers to choose the Doctor of Optometry they prefer to see. If you have a valid prescription, bring it along.
OVP is flexible and simple, too. Member companies can customize a program to meet their budgetary and workplace objectives. And they don’t have to worry about paperwork: OVP assumes all administrative duties in fulfilling the order.
All OVP Doctors of Optometry are members of the B.C. Association of Optometrists. BCAO and BCAO-OVP also sponsor the CNIB’s industrial eye safety program. This one-of-a-kind program is delivered by a low-vision facilitator, educating industrial workers about eye safety in the workplace and motivating them to follow safe work practices.
OVP serves 85 communities and has worked with more than 300 companies over the past 25 years. We have the expertise; we have the experience. Entrust your employees' eye-health and vision safety to OVP. When it comes to protecting your workers' vision, what could be more important?
