Ask an Optometrist
“I am getting headaches, but I don't know if it's related to my vision. How can I check this?”
Dr. Gurpreet S. Leekha answers:
Headaches can often be linked to common vision problems, but there are many other causes of headaches that should be considered as well. Start by seeing your Doctor of Optometry for an eye examination. This will rule out the most common causes of vision-related headaches, including astigmatism, farsightedness, binocular (eye-teaming) dysfunction, dry eyes, and so on. If the headaches turn out to not be vision-related, let your family doctor know you've seen an optometrist, and be prepared to describe your headaches in detail.
